Kabaddi
This will be a numaishi match featuring two selected teams formed from across The Netherlands to showcase an exciting and competitive game of traditional circle-style kabaddi. Each team will consist of 11 players.
- The game is played on a circular field with a radius of 22 meters, divided into two equal halves by a midline.
- A 6-meter wide central gate (pala) is used for raiders to enter and exit.
- Each team has 11 active players on the field.
- The match duration is 40 minutes, divided into two halves of 20 minutes, with a 5-minute break.
- One raider enters the opponent's half through the pala to tag a defender and return safely.
- Only one defender may engage the raider during a raid.
- Each raid must be completed within 30 seconds.
- Raiders are not required to chant "kabaddi" during their raid.
- If the raider successfully tags and returns, their team scores 1 point.
- If the raider is stopped or fails to tag, the defending team scores 1 point.
- If more than one defender engages the raider, the raiding team scores 1 point.
- Stepping out of bounds results in 1 point for the opposing team.
- Players who are out remain on the field; there is no revival system.
- The game is overseen by 2 referees, 2 umpires, and 1 scorer.
- Players typically play barefoot and wear traditional knickers.
- The team with the highest score at the end of the match wins.
