Indoor Football Tournament Report

Dear Brothers,

I hope this message finds you well.

Indoor Football Tournament took place on Saturday, January 12th. This event marked a significant gathering, featuring the participation of nine Majalis and held at the impressive Topsporthal, situated within the Zuiderpark Campus in Den Haag.

The day began on a solemn note with Tilawat, followed by enlightening announcements from our esteemed National Sadr and Mohtamim Sahib. The tournament comprised a total of 16 matches, each a showcase of participants’ skill, dedication, and sportsmanship.

Following the morning activities, a brief but impactful Tarbiyyat session was conducted after the Zuhr and Asr Namaaz. During this session, we delved into the profound significance of the Quran and its invaluable teachings.

A well-deserved break followed the Tarbiyyat session, where all participants relished a delectable meal thoughtfully orchestrated by Qaid Sahib from Den Haag Noord. This nourishing meal re-energized everyone for the remaining group matches, which ultimately determined the final standings in both poules.

The semifinals were characterized by intense competition. The first semifinal witnessed a closely fought battle between Den Haag and Amsterdam Zuidoost, with Amsterdam emerging victorious with a hard-fought 1-0 scoreline. In the second semifinal, Nunspeet displayed their prowess, securing an impressive 6-0 victory over Schiedam.

The much-anticipated final match featured a rematch from the previous year’s tournament, with Amsterdam Zuidoost facing off against Nunspeet. In the end, Nunspeet emerged as the triumphant champions once again. Special recognition is due to Ahmed Butt of Nunspeet, who proved to be the standout goal scorer with an impressive 13 goals in just 6 matches. Aleem Sheikh from Amsterdam Zuidoost was rightfully awarded the esteemed “Best Talent of the Tournament.”

It is noteworthy that throughout the tournament, all matches were played with a spirit of healthy sportsmanship, fostering brotherhood and unity among participants. We commend all the participating Majalis and individuals for their exceptional performances and unwavering commitment to sportsmanship.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event a resounding success. Looking ahead, we anticipate more gatherings and competitions that will undoubtedly strengthen our community bonds.
